According to BuzzFeed News, yes. Facebook’s design and algorithm acts as a feedback loop: the more something is engaged, the more exposure it gets. Plus, human nature seems to incline toward rumors, gossips, falsehoods and misinformation.
Although BuzzFeed’s report shows that the right-wing pages are disseminating more misleading and untrue stories, I have personally seen my own friends reposting and sharing posts that are false, particularly from Occupy Democrats. Yes, both sides are certainly guilty. Hence, hyperpartisanship.
