Gangsters, Outlaws and Lawmen

The American outlaw has been romanticized through folktales, books and movies. Now you can own a piece of gangster history. RR Auctions’ “Gangsters, Outlaws and Lawmen” Auction is this Sunday, September 30, 2012.

The 134 lot live auction features a Colt .45 found on Clyde Barrow’s waistband and a .38-Caliber Colt strapped to Bonnie Parker’s leg on May 23, 1934 when they were gunned down during an ambush near Gibsland, Louisiana. (Image Credit: RR Auction)

Besides Bonnie and Clyde, a who’s who of American outlaws are represented in this impressive collection, including the Dalton gang, James gang, Cole Younger, John Dillinger, Bugsy Siegel, Lucky Luciano, Meyer Lansky, Frank Castello, Mickey Cohen and Al Capone.

The American Lawmen include Deadwood sheriff Seth Bullock, Wyatt Earp, Elliot Ness, Bat Masterson, Pat Garret and Judge Roy Bean.

You can either bid live in-person at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua, NH or online via Artfact.

UPDATE: The auction did predictably well, totaling over $1.1 million. Clyde Barrow’s 1911 Colt .45 sold for $240,000 and Bonnie Parker’s .38-caliber Detective Special went for $264,000, which was the highest bid of the auction.
