Are the clouds separate from the sky? Are waves separate from the ocean? Are we separate from the planet? Our ability to view phenomena as separate affords us amazing experiences. However, that doesn’t mean we should forget that we are interdependently connected to everything and everyone. Nothing exists independently. A flower, for example, is born from a seed. But that seed is as dependent on water, air, earth, and the totality of the universe for its life as it is on that seed. In this way, the flower owes its life to all of existence. Countless events are necessary for a life. From this view, how can we distinguish one cause separately from all causes?
