Local politics is where real progress & change occur

National politics get all the attention, but real progress and change come at the local level. March 7 is election day in Los Angeles and there are important offices (like mayor) and measures to consider.

In District 1, Joe Bray-Ali is likely the candidate to give incumbent Gil Cedillo a run for his money. A couple of weeks ago, the Lincoln Heights debate featured a ruckus crowd, which mostly jeered Cedillo with his mixed and controversial record. It was actually great to see my fellow neighbors so engaged in the political process. Perhaps the acrimonious national election spurred a fire at the local level. Whatever the reason, the community does need change and leadership that will listen to and work for the people.

In a few days, we will decide what direction we will take. I, for one, cast my vote today via mail.
